Early morning fire destroys vacant home

Firefighters made a fast attack when they arrived to a home that was fully engulfed overnight.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi firefighters responded to a major house fire overnight.

A passerby saw the flames and reported the fire just after 4 a.m. Saturday morning at a home on the 3100 block of Greenwood Dr. near Tarlton St.

When crews arrived on the scene they found the home completely engulfed.

Battalion chief Jim DeVisser with CCFD told 3 News the fire was so big that smoke could be seen from the Crosstown Expressway.

Both neighboring homes started to catch on fire, but the quick actions from fire crews contained the blaze to the one house.

We are told the house was vacant and there are no injuries to report.  Crews are now working to investigate the cause of that fire.
