Corpus Christi Army Depot celebrates 57 years of U.S. Army aviation

In the last 57 years, nearly 15,000 helicopters have been refurbished and repaired by CCAD.

Keeping the U.S. Army's helicopter fleet in tip-top shape is the main mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot. On Friday, they celebrated 57 years of doing just that.

Dignitaries gathered at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi to honor the thousands of men and women who have made major contributions at CCAD.

"They really are the glue to what CCAD is all about," CCAD Commander Col. Allan Lanceta said. "They quietly build helicopters, components, engines, transmissions on a daily basis."

CCAD has become a critical asset in U.S. Army readiness since helicopters first took center stage at combat operations during the Vietnam War. In the last 57 years, nearly 15,000 helicopters have been refurbished and repaired by CCAD.
