Mireles Elementary recognized for capturing hearts

'Capturing Kids' Hearts' award goes to schools that go above and beyond on their campuses to create a welcoming environment.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mireles Elementary School was selected out of hundreds of schools for a National Showcase School recognition under the "Capturing Kids' Hearts" organization.

The recognition went to schools that went above and beyond on their campuses and created a safe and welcoming environment.

The organization aims to equip K-12 professionals with processes focused on social-emotional well-being, relationship driven campus culture and student connectedness.

"So often teachers are not recognized for the hard work that they do and the students are not recognized for the hard work that they do," Principal Carolyn Bence said. "And Capturing Kids' Hearts is a process where it's connecting teachers, students, staff, parents and so to get this honor is really, really special cause it's showing what their doing is paying off."

Capturing Kids' Hearts said they focus on building positive relationships first which promotes high performance.

Mireles Elementary is just one of four schools that received this special award and celebration.
