A native Texan, Mike Gillaspia was raised in San Antonio. He has also lived and worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Midland-Odessa areas.
Since 2005, Mike has made his home in the Coastal Bend, where he has had the opportunity to anchor and report for the local CBS, NBC and now ABC affiliates. That includes being at the desk to help provide viewers with non-stop coverage of Hurricane Harvey in August of 2017.
Mike has twice been recognized by the Associated Press for his work as an anchor on both a morning and midday newscast and appreciates the chance he is often afforded to interview newsmakers live and unscripted.
Always willing to help in whatever way he can in supporting local groups, Mike enjoys the many opportunities that come his way to serve as an emcee for area events. He is also active in church and volunteer settings, speaking to hundreds of people each year on various topics that include lessons on life and leadership.
