Beaches, camp sites open this weekend in the Coastal Bend

Vehicles on the beach should not park within 100 feet of each other.

NUECES COUNTY, Texas — The order from County Judge Barbara Canales says social distancing of six feet is required for activities like walking, biking, hiking, running, surfing, fishing, wading. Vehicles on the beach should also not park within 100 feet of each other.

County Commissioner Brent Chesney says he met with Canales at the beach to survey the situation. Padre Island National Seashore will keep it's visiting center, campground, and bird island basin closed.

  • Padre Island National Seashore
  • Mustang Island State Park 
  • North Beach
  • McGee Beach

No beach equipment rentals available at this time. 

Camping allowed

  • JP Luby Park

Not allowed to camp 

  • Padre Balli Park from access road 4 to access road 6
  • IB Magee beach 
  • South side of Packery channel 
  • Mustang Island State Park
  • Padre Island National Seashore
