ROCKPORT, Texas — Over in Fulton, they are winding down the legendary Fulton Oyster Fest, a tradition now 41 years strong.
Each year the festival attracts thousands of people that want to try out some tasty oysters and other epic festival foods, enjoy live music, shop local vendors, and hop on some carnival rides.
The festival is put on by the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department, the fire chief Rickey McLester crediting the dozens of volunteers that show up to help with everything from selling tickets to cleaning when it's all said and done.
The festival not only helping the fire department out, but as well as area non-profit organizations.
"Just seeing a community come together to support a great cause, because not only is this supporting the fire department, but all the food vendors are all non-profits," said Fire Chief McLester.
"Next year we'll be here again, we're not going anywhere," added McLester.
McLester said that over the past 10 years he's been with the department and this festival has brought in $2.5 million for the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department.
