CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A team of researchers from the Harte Research Institute were notified Thursday morning after a manatee was spotted in the Corpus Christi Marina.
Iain Vasey, President and CEO of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, sent 3News some photos he took from the One Shoreline Plaza building of a large manatee swimming in the bay -- an uncommon sight in Corpus Christi.
3News contacted Dr. Greg Stunz at the Harte Research Institute and he said he would alert his researchers to see if they could dispatch a remote operating vehicle to search the bay waters. The manatee, however, was already gone before they could search.
The 3News drone was sent out over the Corpus Christi Bayfront in hopes of another sighting, but no luck.
