City Council approves final project list totaling $75M for Bond 2020 to be considered by voters this November

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One of the biggest bond proposals in the past 12 years has been cut back by council members and approved to be placed on the ballot.

Details of the proposal named Bond 2020 originally included 50 projects at an estimated cost of $115M but was reduced to $75M during yesterday's city council meeting.

Most of the money would go to pay for residential street repairs and renovations at the Police Training Center as well as upgrades for Fire Station #3.

Streets

  • 23 streets in the five council districts. Three additional citywide projects. The focus will be on updating lighting, sidewalk and curb repairs, bike lanes and ADA ramps.

Public Safety

  • Two citywide projects. The focus is updating public safety facilitates. Replacing fire station #3 on Morgan Street and a new Police Training Academy.

The bond will be on the ballot for voters in November.
