CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The largest indoor flea market in South Texas, the Corpus Christi Trade Center is opening back up tomorrow. The question is, how will management make it a safe experience for shoppers?
Mari Haft with the Trade Center says employees are abiding by the governor's restrictions and will only go up to 25% capacity. They are only letting customers enter through the main entrance and restricting their hallways to one way. You will notice arrows on the ground.
Management is also limiting five people in small booths and ten people per large booth. While food vendors are allowed to be open, dining-in will not be an option, only food to go. Haft says the Trade Center's vendors have been anxious to get back to work and provide for their families.
"Please support our vendors that do open up for you guys," Haft said. "They are local and we do want to support them as much as we can. I mean we've had some vendors there for over 30 years, so this has been their livelihood, whether it's the jewelers or our leather and boot guys and our food people."
Now it's up to each vendor to decide if they will open for business or not. Haft says staff deep cleaned right before they closed the Trade Center back in March and there will be hand sanitizer stations throughout the building.
The vendors have been given all of the governor's guidelines and employees are required to wear a mask or face covering and gloves.
The Trade Center will be open under their normal hours of operation starting tomorrow, Friday - Sunday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
