CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The delivers are delivering. The cashiers are learning to cashier. The packers are unpacking. The stockers are stocking. The freezers are freezing. The beer cave is cooling.
The produce section is ready to produce. The meat market is ready to meet the steaks.
Five years in the making, the Island Market IGA grocery store is about to open its doors. There's just a couple more items on the to-do list.
It's still hard to believe, but Padre Island will have a grocery store soon. Its been a long haul, but now some light at the end of the tunnel couldn't be more thrilled.
And neither could islanders who won't have to go over the bridge to grocery shop. 2021 is starting off pretty well.
