AUSTIN, Texas — In a conversation posted to social media on Tuesday, actor Matthew McConaughey weighed in on how Austin has changed as the city experiences massive growth.
He said despite the changes, Austin has always been a place where “nobody’s too good and everybody’s good enough.”
McConaughey's wife, Camila Alves, posted the video on Instagram and mentioned the Just Keep Living Foundation in her caption. The foundation, which is founded by Alves and McConaughey, empowers high school students by providing them with the tools they need to live healthy lives.
In the video, McConaughey also touched on Austin's booming growth.
“Now, with our massive growth, we’re more than just a university town and a government town,” he said. “We’re a tech town, we’re a business town, we’re a banking town and we’re a congested traffic town – but we don’t honk horns!”
He said the challenge in Austin now is maintaining the “core value of the village that we used to be.”
“It’s a really bright future we have and I believe sincerely that we’ll always keep the DNA of our core,” he said.
