CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Good news for social security recipients and railroad retirees who didn't file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.
The IRS says recipients and retirees will automatically receive a $1,200 payment. Originally the government said those individuals would need to file a simple tax return, but recently the IRS announced a change saying now that would not be necessary.
The majority of social security recipients get benefits via direct deposit into a bank account. So don't worry, you're covered.
