Austin H-E-B sells Lotto Texas ticket worth $34M

Lottery officials say the prize still hasn't been claimed.

AUSTIN, Texas — Someone in Austin ended 2023 with some deeper pockets!

According to the Texas Lottery, a ticket sold at a northwest Austin H-E-B won the Lotto Texas jackpot to end the year. The $34 million winner matched all six numbers drawn on Dec. 30, which were 6, 7, 23, 34, 37 and 50.

Lottery officials said the winner picked the cash value option at the time of purchase, meaning they'll take home the jackpot in one lump sum instead of annual payments. The jackpot hasn't been claimed yet and lottery officials say the winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

“We look forward to meeting and congratulating the winner of the latest Lotto Texas jackpot prize,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery. “If you have the winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, put it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice, and call the Texas Lottery to schedule an appointment to claim the prize.”

Texans have been winning big lately outside of the Texas Lottery. Someone in Laredo took home a cool $2 million following the first Powerball drawing of 2024. A pair of Texans also won big with the final Powerball jackpot of 2023.

If you want to play Lotto Texas, the current jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is slightly more than $5 million. Drawings are every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and available to watch live online through the Texas Lottery webcast.
