CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two Coastal Bend breweries are supporting the Texas craft beer industry by selling limited edition glass cups for Small Business Saturday.
Six years ago, the Texas Craft Brewers Guild began releasing a custom artist glasses across the state to help small and independent craft breweries.
When a customer purchases a glass, it not only supports that brewery but it also supports the the Texas Craft Brewers Guild mission to grow the craft brewer industry through education and advocacy.
The Rebel Toad Brewery has collaborated with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild in selling limited edition beer glasses on Small Business Saturday since 2019. Co-owner Nathali Cavazos said the community support is important and a dollar from every glass sold is donated to the organization to provide resources to help other breweries be successful.
"They give us guidance on whether you're opening or whether you've been in operation already. They give you all sorts of guidance on how to start your brewery, startups, and even how to improve your product," Cavazos said. "So, sometimes when we say we're going to go out and support, it's a little too late sometimes. So, it's important to support your local businesses everyday."
In Rockport, Bay Area Brewing Company opened seven months ago. Owners Diedra and Will Amaya said this is their first Small Business Saturday and hope the community continues to support them.
"That we're looking forward to is people just coming out, enjoying our facility, coming out trying some craft beer, pick up one of these amazing glasses," Will said.
Local Whitney Trevino and her family enjoy supporting small businesses throughout the year.
"Local startups are incredibly important. Once again these are the people that are engaging our economy and contributing to our culture," Trevino said. "And I think it's amazing and I think there should be more."
It's not too late to get the limited edition beer glasses. The Rebel Toad Brewery and the Bay Area Brewing Company will be selling the glasses until they sell out.
The 2024 glass was designed by Tyler artist, Townsend Keller who illustrated Texas wildlife and conservation on the glass.
