$25,000 worth of drugs confiscated near Driscoll

500 vials of THC oil and three pounds of high grade marijuana were found.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — $25,000 worth of high grade marijuana and THC oil are in police custody on Saturday after being confiscated from a smuggler.

On Thursday afternoon, a special agent with the DA’s Drug Task Force made a traffic spot along highway 77 near Driscoll and he said he wasn't expecting what he found.
Mike Tamez initiated the stop.
He found a brand new suitcase in the trunk of the vehicle filled with 500 vials of THC oil and three pounds of high grade marijuana.
He said what made this bust more uncommon was the high quality of the drugs, and the fact that the driver was traveling south with them
Tamez said along 77 southbound usually smugglers are trafficking money and weapons, not drugs.
Nonetheless Tamez said the government does not take this offense lightly.
Because of the seriously damaging effects of THC oil the driver is looking at a serious charge.
“Now, 500 vials and he's looking at a first degree felony,” Mike Tamez, DA It was parallel to if you murdered somebody. That’s is a first-degree felony.>
Tamez said this stop was a collaborative effort with the precinct five constable and the Driscoll Police Department.
He added that without the help of other law enforcement agency's many of the busts that have taken place along 77 wouldn't happen.
