Check out this great catch! It was caught a few miles offshore today. It's quite the catch for a San Antonio man who went fishing out in Port Aransas this weekend.
He never expected to hook a 12 foot tiger shark, and the fight to reel him in wasn't easy.
Ryan Spring had gone fishing with his dad and his friends out in Port Aransas and he was hoping to catch a hammer head.
The 12 foot 7 inch tiger shark took the bait!
The struggle to bring him in began Saturday night at around 8:30.
The 809 pound shark was so heavy he was even moving their boat around in the water. After a long exhausting night they finally reeled him in early this morning.
It took him nearly 8 hours! Some viewers have expressed concerns about this shark. We checked with the Texas Game Warden and it is legal to catch this type of shark.
For a complete list of what you can and can not catch you can head to the texas game warden's website at www.tpwd.state.tx.us/warden
