CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Illuminated Boat Parade, presented by the Port of Corpus Christi, followed the put on a show Saturday evening.

People in Corpus Christi kicked off the holiday season by making their way to Water's Edge Park.

There, they watched the H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Illuminated Boat Parade.

"H-E-B is super proud to be able to put on this event with the Downtown Managment District and really provide families with a safe place to come and create memories," said H-E-B’s Bobby Rodriguez.

"To have the boats on the water front and have all of it lit up and decorated for people to enjoy and it be free event, that's just something that not a lot of cities can say they do," said Downtown Management District public information officer Daniela Campos.

Kids from the junior yacht club sailing team were among the dozens of boaters that hit the water for the parade.

"I just like being on the water and sailing with my friends,” said Mason Ellis. “I'm gonna put the light on the string to make the sail like a triangle."

"I love it a lot,” said participant Karys Rybar. “Last year we also did it and it's just so fun to go out on the water with my friends."

"It's fun to look at the lights and it's cool that it lights up very bright,” said Mason Shwab and Lucas Rystrom. “It's pretty fun to be on the water cause it's in the winter."

"Basically we have to plan how we're going to make a sail out of lights without putting the sail up,” said participant James Rybar. “It's kind of nice just looking at everybody cheering, and it's fun."
