CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A National Take Back Day will be taking place at the Corpus Christi Medical Center's Doctor's Regional Hospital campus from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
The 4th annual event is being put on by the hospital and is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency in order for people to be able to properly dispose of leftover and unused medications to keep them from getting into the wrong hands.
Corpus Christi Police Department officers will be at the hospital to help collect and dispose of the medications.
Prescriptions and other drugs that are being accepted include:
- Hydrocodone (Norco, Lortab, Vicodin)
- Oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percocet)
- Tramadol (Ultram)
- Codeine
- Fentanyl (Duragesic)
- Morphine,
- Hydromorphone (Dilaudid)
- Oxymorphone (Opana)
- Ointments, lotions, drops, liquid medication (in leak-proof containers) and vape cartridges (without batteries) and pet medications will also be accepted.
- needles, syringes, lancets or liquids will not be accepted.
