It's only a little over four-years away, and once completed it will forever change the Corpus Christi skyline. Construction of the new Harbor Bridge will begin in mid-April.
The announcement was made at Tuesday's Port Commissioner's meeting.
Senior Engineer Brett Flint gave Port Commissioners an update on the process that will usher in the beginning of the five-year project. The Texas Department of Transportation will formerly tell contractors to proceed Wednesday. Construction could begin within the next 90 days, possibly by mid-April.
Port Commissioners also got word Tuesday as to where the first section of the bridge will be built.
In the meantime, for residents who live in and around the area of the construction zone and are interested in the Port's buyout program, there is an important public meeting coming up at 5:30 p.m. March 7 at the Solomon Coles High School gym.
