CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) — The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who was shot while allegedly crawling through the window of a home Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Mark Anthony Rios.
Investigators said Rios was crawling through the window of a residence in the 5800 block of Kimbrough Drive to see a girl just before 1 a.m. Saturday when the shooting took place. When officers arrived at the scene they found Rios inside the residence dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said witnesses told them Rios had tried to enter the residence through a door and when he was unable to do so, he broke into the home through the window. That's when a 23-year-old male living in the home shot Rios several times.
Police said no arrests have been made and that they are in the preliminary stages of their investigation.
Friends and family of Rios have created a makeshift memorial to honor him at the Whataburger restaurant at Port and Baldwin, where he worked.
