SELMA, Texas — More than 10 years after a Selma girl was found dead, police have made an arrest.
On August 15, 2014, the Selma Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Appaloosa Oak. Once there, they found a 5-year-old girl who had reportedly had a "medical episode." The girl was pronounced dead.
An autopsy revealed that she had died from blunt force trauma. Her death was then ruled a homicide.
The investigation had been going on for 10 years, until Wednesday when Thelma Espinosa, the aunt of the victim, was indicted for the murder by a grand jury. She's also been charged with serious bodily injury to a child.
