ARANSAS PASS, Texas — Aransas Pass police said they are no stranger to a home in the 1300 block of Oak Park Drive where they made two arrests Monday.

Officers said nearby residents describe the home as a nuisance, and based on a history of events at the location, they were watching the residence at around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

During their stakeout, officers saw a man wearing a backpack approach the house and sit on the front porch. Officers approached the man, identified as 33-year-old Kelly Steinart, and engaged him in conversation. Police said he was not detained and was free to leave if he chose to do so. He identified himself but officers said he became standoffish and left.

Police said Steinart eventually began running. It was then that police learned that he was wanted on municipal warrants.

An assisting officer saw Steinart duck into an alley and reemerge without his backpack. The officer arrested Steinart on the municipal warrants and retrieved his backpack, which was found to contain 57 grams of crystal meth, heroin, several Xanax pills, and around two ounces of marijuana. They also found a loaded handgun inside the backpack.

Following Steinart's arrest officers returned to the home on Oak Park Drive to contact the resident, who had pulled up while police were Steinart was being arrested. The resident, identified as 27-year-old Misty Garrison, was also found to be wanted on municipal warrants and was arrested. She was also cited for multiple code violations on or near her property.

Before leaving, officers saw another man arrive at the residence. They learned he was driving with a suspected license and was cited and released.

Aransas Pass warn that their officers will focus their efforts on locations known to be criminal havens, as well as those who frequent them.
