Woman who died from gunshot wound identified; Corpus Christi police investigating as case of domestic violence

Officials said two children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two people, a man and a woman, were rushed to the hospital Monday morning with serious injuries after a shooting on Corpus Christi’s south side.

The woman, who was identified as Ashton Dudley, 23, later died at the hospital, Lt. Michael Pena with the Corpus Christi Police Department said.

Officers were called to the 3800 block of Woodhouse right at 6 a.m. Monday morning in to respond to a shooting call.

Peña said a man and Dudley were found with gunshot wounds in what they are investigating as a case of domestic violence.

Two children, ages two and three, were at the home at the time of the shooting but were not injured, Peña said.

It is unclear if the man or woman was the aggressor in the shooting. Officers are not looking for anyone else involved in the shooting.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, there is help available.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is open 24/7 and is available in English, Spanish and over 200 different languages through interpreter services. That number is 800-799-7233.
