HPD: Father killed in home invasion while wife and young kids were inside

Houston police said three people broke into the house wearing ski masks. The man was shot multiple times.

HOUSTON — A father was shot and killed early Sunday morning when multiple people broke into his home in southwest Houston, police say.

This happened around 2:30 a.m. on Castlecreek Lane, which is near South Post Oak Road and the Sam Houston Tollway.

The man's family identified him as Noel Espronceda Frometa.

Houston police said three men broke into the house wearing ski masks. Espronceda Frometa was shot multiple times.

"The whole family is crushed," his stepdaughter told KHOU 11 in Spanish.

Although his wife and two young children, who have autism, were physically unharmed, the family said the youngest saw the shooting happen.

"I want people who did this to stop," the stepdaughter said. "They're taking things from homes, they took an innocent life. They ruined the children's lives."

She said Espronceda Frometa had recently gotten home from his job as a truck driver and had been enjoying his time off.

Police are still looking for the suspects and are asking residents in the area to check security cameras.

At this point, police don't know why the suspects broke into the home.
