Multiple vehicles damaged, broken into in southside neighborhood

Corpus Christi police were called to the area Wednesday morning and said multiple vehicles were damaged, broken into and had items stolen from inside.

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) — Some residents living around the 5100 block of Toledo Drive, near Luther Jones Elementary School, woke up Wednesday morning to find their cars had been broken into overnight.

Corpus Christi police were called to the area Wednesday morning and said multiple vehicles were damaged, broken into and had items stolen from inside.

Police said it was around 10 a.m. Wednesday when they got the call. Seven vehicles were broken into, and one had a broken windshield. The owner of the vehicle with the broken windshield found foot prints on the glass from someone stomping it.

A neighbor's video shows a small black four-door sedan passing along Toledo Drive at around 1:30 a.m.

The suspects stole items worth more than $100, as well as paperwork from vehicles.

One neighbor said the suspects used a screwdriver to break into her husband's truck. She also said it was around 1 a.m. when her son said he heard people whispering right outside his bedroom window.

"If there's no consequences, they're going to keep doing it. They might go to the next block and they're going to keep doing it," resident Katie Sharp said.

Many residents said they will be installing security cameras.

Police said the crime is considered a Class B misdemeanor. As the investigation continues they are urging residents who have seen the black four-door sedan in the video to call them at 361-886-2600.
