CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ingleside ISD Safety and Student Services Director Scott Kilgore has been named the lone finalist for the district's superintendent's job.
Current superintendent Troy Mircovich announced his plans to retire in September.
The board must now wait 21 days before approving Kilgore to the position.
Kilgore worked as an assistant principal in 2021 before being promoted to his current role, but he has prior experience with the Mustangs, having served as a high-school teacher and coach from 2004-2009.
During that time, he led the girls powerlifting team to a state title in 2008.
Kilgore is no stranger to Coastal Bend education, having also worked at West Oso ISD and Gregory-Portland ISD.
He has a Masters in Educational Administration from Lamar University and received his Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas-Tyler.
He was chosen from a pool of three candidates, and is expected to be offered a contract on Jan. 8, 2024.
