CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An Austin judge has granted a temporary injunction in the lawsuit over suing the Texas Education Agency over accountability ratings, initiated by Kingsville ISD.
Superintendent Cissy Perez-Reynolds tells 3NEWS a news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Austin to celebrate the decision.
The ruling means the agency can’t currently assign performance ratings to schools for the 2022-23 school year until the court issues another order, or a final judgment is made in the suit.
Though the lawsuit began in the Coastal Bend, more than 111 districts now are suing the TEA.
The districts argue that they didn't receive the criteria used to rate the schools.
The suit also claims the new metrics would dramatically decrease campus and district scores.
