CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — West Oso ISD has named a lone finalist for their open superintendent position.
Kimberly Moore, who has been with the district for six years, will be the new head of the district. She took over as the interim superintendent in January after the departure of Conrado Garcia.
“West Oso ISD is a unique and tight-knit community deeply rooted in tradition and high expectations. I am humbled and blessed to be allowed to serve this community and work alongside our dedicated board of trustees, wonderful staff, and incredible students,” Moore said.
Moore holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan along with a Master of Education from Vanderbilt University. She completed a post masters superintendent certification program in 2020 through Lamar University, the district said in a press release. Moore has over thirty-two years experience in education, and before joining West Oso ISD she served as a teacher in all content area grades kindergarten through college.
In West Oso ISD, Moore first worked as a STEM/Advanced Academics/Instructional Materials Coordinator, Instructional Director of STEM/Advanced Academics/CTE and then the Executive Director of Academics.
"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are elated to have a person of Ms. Kimberly Moore’s character and passion to lead our district. We are confident in her ability to lead with integrity, strength and knowledge. She is committed and dedicated to include students, staff, parents and community in making West Oso ISD the BEST School District in Texas." said Board President Ms. Velma Rodriguez.
The board will officially vote on the position at a Special Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 30.
