CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
The "Big Red Band" just scored themselves a big red win!
Robstown ISD announced in a Facebook post Tuesday morning that the Robstown High School Marching Band has earned the chance to compete at the UIL State Marching Band Championship for the first time in the school's history.
RISD also announced that school is canceled on Wednesday, Nov. 1, to allow students, faculty, and other members of the Cotton Picker community to show their support for the band at the competition.
The "Big Red Band" is poised to compete against some of Texas' top marching bands. They are one of only six schools to advance from their last state-qualifying competition.
The state championship will take place Nov. 1 at the San Antonio Alamodome, where Robstown High School is scheduled to perform at 9:30 a.m. You can find further details on the day’s events at the link here.
Congratulations to the band and its proud supporters!
