CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Watch out, Corpus Christi – we've got sharks in the water!
CCISD announced in a press release that the official mascot for the new Creekside Elementary School will be a fierce, grinning shark sporting the school's signature blue and turquoise colors.
Third and fourth graders from Zachary Kolda Elementary School chose Creekside's new mascot in a vote between the Sharks and the Pelicans in early October. After three days, the Sharks swarmed the vote and became the students' top choice.
Creekside Elementary is expected to open in August 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. CCISD officials also plan to break ground on a new middle school near Creekside on Nov. 16.
Further details can be found on CCISD's official website.
