It was just last year that the Galvan Ballroom in Corpus Christi was designated a national historical building, but on Wednesday it was named a "Texas Treasure."
The ballroom was built in the 50s and was described by its builder, Rafael Galvan, as a venue for the community. His work over the years with LULAC helped cement the historic significance of the building and garner state recognition.
A reception to celebrate that honor was held there Wednesday. Kiii News Reporter Brian Burns went Live from the event with the details.
Kiii News Anchor Rudy Trevino looked into the history of the Galvan Ballroom and came back with the details, as well.
