Groundbreaking held for new Port of Corpus Christi building

The Port of Corpus Christi broke ground Tuesday on their new administration building next to the Solomon P. Ortiz Center.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi's skyline is about to get a new addition.

The Port of Corpus Christi broke ground Tuesday on their new administration building next to the Solomon P. Ortiz Center.

Port staff and Commission members were joined by elected officials for the groundbreaking ceremony. The building will usher in a new era of prosperity for the Port and the City of Corpus Christi as the new building will unify not only the community but Port staff.

"We are currently in three separate buildings and to bring our whole team together under one roof, it's certainly exciting for us as we have a new team, a younger team," Port CEO Sean Strawbridge said.

Strawbridge said the Port chose two local firms to design and build the new facility, which will bring together their administration team under one roof, something that hasn't been possible for decades.
