The historic old Beeville Jail, which was originally constructed in the 1870s, was picked up and moved about 100 yards away Wednesday.
The land the jail used to sit on will soon be the site of a new retirement home.
Crews said it was not an easy move because of the deteriorated condition of the building.
County commissioners said they plan on contacting the Historic Commission in Austin to see what can be done about restoring the jail.
