The story came from a website called United Media Publishing, but turns out it was just a hoax. A call to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Monday confirmed that Saldivar is still alive.
The 54-year old continues to serve her life sentence at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville. This year marked 20 years since Saldivar fatally shot the Tejano music legend.
