KINGSVILLE, Texas — Severe storms that moved through South Texas Thursday night caused major damage to the town of Kingsville and to the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus.
University officials have decided to close the campus and cancel Friday classes. Much of the campus remains without power as of Friday morning, however essential personnel are expected to report to work.
The visitors press box at Javelina Stadium was destroyed. Officials with the National Weather Service have not confirmed the touchdown of a tornado. Crews will be in Kingsville on Friday to assess the damages.
