CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Thursday was the first day on the job for 10 new correctional officers at the Nueces County Jail.

On Wednesday, the officers were sworn in at the Nueces County Courthouse.

According to Nueces County Sheriff J.C. Hooper, becoming a correctional officer is a great stepping stone job for people looking to work in law enforcement, and they're always looking at new applicants.

"There's a turnover issue, and we still have vacancies at this time also, so we'd love to have more candidates. We'll get you through training, and we'll get you a job," Hooper said.
