CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Over on the city's southside, the Rodd Field South Project is underway.
Corpus Christi Director of Engineering Services Jeff Edmunds said the $5 million project will extend Rodd Field south of Yorktown to Alder and provide another outlet out of Rancho Vista.
"Which is important because we are getting ready to have a major construction project to widen Yorktown from Rodd Field to the mud bridge," he said.
According to Edmunds, Rodd Field south is ultimately planned to be a major corridor that will connect to the regional parkway and cross over the Oso, but that will be a long-range project.
The city expects this current project to finish by August 2024. Edmunds said its on target to be completed by that date.
"As always, with any of our construction projects, we apologize for the inconvenience. Please use some extra caution when you're traveling those corridors with construction underway," he said.
Edmunds said they hope to have the Rodd Field South Project wrapped up before they began the Yorktown widening project.
