CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — AEP Texas crews have restored power to almost 1,100 customers in Corpus Christi's Bay Area, according to AEP Public Information Officer Omar Lopez.
A social media post at 2:11 p.m. identified 1,100 Corpus Christi customers without power. About 20 minutes later, that number was down to 44 customers.
According to Lopez, the delay in outage case updates is a result of the system trying to keep up with dispatch repairs.
"So if it's down to 44 that means the outage may have already been resolved. And so the system is just trying to catch up," he said.
Fewer than 50 customers were still without power at 3:30 p.m. in the area of Everhart and South Alameda.
Power is expected to be restored around 5:30 p.m. but AEP Texas said that time could change.
