KINGSVILLE, Texas — Severe storms that moved through South Texas Thursday night caused major damage to parts of Kingsville, Texas, and left many without electricity.
American Electric Power Texas said as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, 6,100 Kingsville residents were still without power.
AEP Texas reported that they expect to have power restored to 95-percent of Kingsville area residents who were impacted by the storm by 8 p.m. Saturday. They said the restoration effort will continue until all power is restored.
The storm hit the area around 7 p.m. Thursday and left about 9,600 residents without electricity, according to AEP Texas. Crews have restored power to the hospital, to Naval Air Station-Kingsville, and to the local water treatment plant. They hope to have power restored to the water pumping station by Friday afternoon, if not sooner.
