Corpus Christi (KIII news) — An arrest affidavit brings to light new details in the case against 18-year-old Trebor Wheeler, who is charged in the deaths of 39-year-old Arturo Lopez and his wife, 38-year-old Miriam.
According to the arrest affidavit, at around 1:30 a.m. April 2, Wheeler and three other masked men allegedly broke into a home on Balchuck Lane and shot the couple in their bedroom.
The document said the couple's son heard a loud crash and people yelling to get on the floor. After that he heard several gunshots and went to hide in his bathroom. The young man said the suspects opened the bathroom door. He described them as four men with ski masks, gloves and pistols.
A witness told investigators with the Nueces County Sheriff's Office that he knew one of the suspects and positively identified him as Wheeler from some red tips of hair that were sticking out from his mask.
Wheeler is currently in the Nueces County Jail. He has been charged with capital murder with a $1.25 million bond.
