CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A news release posted to the Alice High School Facebook page Tuesday morning is notifying parents that a student tested positive for an unnamed communicable disease.
"We understand that this may be concerning, and we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority," read the statement.
A city official tells 3NEWS the unnamed illness is tuberculosis.
The Department of Health reportedly notified the school district, providing them with a list of individuals who may have been exposed.
If your child is among those who may have been identified, you will be contacted personally by a school nurse.
A school nurse is working to contact parents whose children may have been exposed. They will provide caretakers with important information and instructions on what to do.
The school said there is no further risk of exposure within the building at this time.
