CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Anthem Powers, former mayoral candidate in the city of Corpus Christi reached out to 3NEWS with a statement thanking voters and congratulating Paulette Guajardo and Michael Hunter as they move toward a runoff vote.
"I'd like to congratulate Michael and Paulette; they ran great campaigns, and I look forward to watching how the runoff goes. To all the candidates, I really enjoyed getting to know yall; you're all great people," reads the statement.
Powers earned less than 1% of the city's vote, while Guajardo won more than 47% and second-place finisher Hunter finished with almost 35%.
"I would also like to thank the people of Corpus Christi. Voter turnout was amazing this year, and I'm proud to live in our great city."
