Aransas Pass Police Capt. David Wood was awarded Monday evening with the Lifesaving Medal for his role in saving the life of a 44-year-old man in November.
According to police, Wood responded to an emergency call at the Gulf Sky Motel in Aransas Pass Nov. 29. He encountered the 44-year-old subject and realized he was foaming from the mouth and exhibiting what first responders call "death-breaths."
Wood sprang into action and gave the victim CPR until EMS crews could arrive. Crews said Wood's efforts greatly impacted the man's ability to hold onto life, and without his help, the man may have not survived.
Wood was presented with the Lifesaving Medal by Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard during Monday evening's City Council meeting.
