CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 23-year-old man is dead after an argument with a 16-year-old escalated, and the older man was shot and killed Friday.
The teenager originally was arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon and on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. One of those aggravated assault charges will be upgraded, police said.
The incident happened at about 12:40 a.m., Corpus Christi Police Department officers said, when they called to the 700 block of Texan Trail for an argument among neighbors, according to witnesses.
An 18-year-old woman also was grazed in the shooting and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A family member also took the man to the hospital, where he later died.
After interviewing people at the scene, officers said they were told an argument broke out between one of the victims and the teenager, when he reportedly took out a gun and shot both victims.
He was found at a nearby residence, with the weapon officers believe was used in the shooting.
He was arrested on and taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
