CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Our community continues to mourn the loss of a ray high school student.
Andrew Garza Jr.,15, was shot on Monday and later died from his injuries after being on life support at Christus Spohn Shoreline.
Family and friends gathered for a benefit to honor and remember the teen, who was said to be filled with love.
Andrew's father said the day of the benefit was about supporting his son.
"Today is a beautiful day for my son, and the benefit's that my family and the friends and the love just around the city even from the people we didn't know getting together for the grace of God and just supporting Andrew Lee Garza."
"He had manners and he had respect and he had love, and he had the biggest heart," said Garza Sr. "I just want to say thank you to everybody and I love everybody and please, please stop this gun violence... please."
Details about funeral arrangements for Andrew have not yet been released.
