CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Big Bad Wolf was on trial Thursday. Students from 5 local schools were selected to participate in the criminal case based on the story of 'The Three Little Pigs.'
Each student had a special role in the trial, from attorneys, witnesses, court clerks, bailiffs and more. Participants were assisted throughout the process by an adult and the mock trial was put on by the Gowan Elizondo Law Firm to help the kids learn about the court system.
One exchange could be heard between students engaged participating in witness questioning.
"Did any of them ever chase you or hurt you in a way?"
"Like I said...the Big Bad Wolf tried to trick me into thinking he was my grandmother so he could eat me."
U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos spoke about how engaging the event was for all participants.
"Everyone here has enjoyed this event. It was uplifting. It lightened up the mood. Everything is very serious at the federal courthouse very quiet," said Ramos.
"It was wonderful to see students from our communities be here today and we're thankful for the students that allowed the students to come to the courthouse."
The jury made their decision as the day went on, ultimately ruling that the Big Bad Wolf... was innocent.
