CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Golden Glove boxing champion and Corpus Christi native 'King Julian' Delgado will be at the YMCA of the Coastal Bend on Wednesday-- and he will be donating boxing supplies for the YMCA's VALOR Boxing CLUB kiddos.
The boxer will be at the gym in partnership with the Heil Law Firm at 6 p.m. on July 2.
The law firm sponsors a program called "Kicks for Class Charity," which gives middle schoolers sports and music equipment and encourages them to participate in team sports by helping them overcome financial challenges.
The firm says that engaging in team sports has been proven to result in positive outcomes for students, including improved school attendance and GPAs, reduced dropout rates and possibility for gang involvement and exposure to beneficial peer influences.
The organization will be hosting its third annual Fundraising Gala on Aug. 8 at the Solomon Ortiz Center. Tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
