CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The juvenile male charged with the stabbing death of 15-year-old Eriya Ruiz will be tried as an adult, officials 3NEWS confirmed Monday afternoon.
Corpus Christi Police Department officers said Ruiz was stabbed and left for dead outside of her home on the 3800 block of Pennine Way in the early morning hours of June 2, 2023, by her then-boyfriend.
The boy's identity has not been released since he is a minor.
Ruiz left was an active player for the Corpus Christi United Little Miss Kickball League. The organization dedicated a 2023 tournament to Ruiz and another player, Miranda Gonzales, who died around the same time.
