Mayoral, city council candidates draw for 2024 election ballot order

The process ensures the order of how the names appear on the ballot is fair and balanced.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Candidates for the Corpus Christi mayor and city council races gathered at City Hall on Friday to draw numbers which will correspond with how the names will be presented on the Nov. 5 election ballot.

The purpose of the drawing is to ensure that the process is fair and balanced.

Candidates had the option to either draw for themselves, send a representative to draw for them or a member of the City Secretary's Staff would draw for them. 

The order names on the ballot will appear as follows:

Mayoral Candidates:

  • Joshua Fraedrick
  • Isabel Araiza
  • Paulette Guajardo
  • Michael Hunter
  • John Calkusic
  • Anthem Powers

City Council At-Large Candidates:

  • Rachel Caballero
  • Robert R. Reyna
  • Jim Klein
  • Jennifer Garcia
  • Carolyn Vaughn
  • Mark Scott
  • Sylvia Tryon
  • Roland Barrera
  • Jahvid Motaghi
  • Larry Elizondo

District 1 Candidates:

  • Anthony Aqunio
  • Everett Roy
  • John Garcia
  • Eli McKay 
  • Billy A. Lerma

District 2 Candidates:

  • Ben Molina
  • Sylvia Campos

District 3 Candidates:

  • Eric Cantu
  • Alberto Carillo III

District 4 Candidates:

  • Eric Magnusson IV 
  • Kaylynn Paxson
  • May Nardone Mendoza
  • Dan Grimsbo

District 5 Candidates:

  • David Peña
