CCIA debuts brand new aircraft rescue firefighting truck

The new truck was paid for by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. It cost more than $800,000.

corpus Christi (kiii news) — The Corpus Christi International Airport debuted a brand new aircraft rescue firefighting truck Tuesday morning.

The custom-built truck is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, off-roading tires and an extendable turret that can pierce through airplanes in the event of a fire.

The Public Safety Division of the CCIA explained why the new technology is helping them offer safety and security for their passengers.

"Well if we don't have safety and security, then you don't have an airport. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that allow people to get on a plane and go anywhere in the world," Chief John Hyland said.

The new truck was paid for by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. It cost more than $800,000.
